So this is love...mhmhmhmhm...so this is love...

There are many things that scare me. And no, not as in scary movie or gory stuff. Just things that people do/say/believe tend to scare me. Like yesterday at church they were handing out donuts to the little kids ('nuff said there!), and this little girl was chowing down a whole éclair! Who does that? Or even Miley Cyrus...honestly enough, that girl scares me to death. How can she possibly be o.k. with herself for doing the things she does?

Anywho...lately I've been doing a lot of thinking...okay I'm always thinking. But lately I've been thinking a lot about young relationships and what constitutes a relationship today. It's sad to realize that young people today look at love as a physical process. Abstinence is seen as a such a tacky thing, no matter how helpful it can be in a young relationship.

But beyond that, like it's sad to think that many girls who are on the verge of adulthood still think of a "real" relationship as being touchy-feely and "cuddling". Well, what about actually getting to know the person first?

Too many young men and women are getting to know each other's bodies before getting to know each other as people when entering into a relationship. And we still wonder why our divorce rates are so high?

Maybe its stuff like this that still has me detached from every committing myself to anything close to a relationship like that. But then again...it's me. LOL.

Freak Future

So for some reason my mom always has these weird dreams where it involves at least two of three things: 1) the end of the world, 2) floods or a big body of water, and 3) someone drowning/dying that she somehow manages to save. And I mean she ALWAYS has these kinds of dreams, and of course, tries to decipher them to see their meaning.

Now I am a true believer that God can talk to you through your dreams. While it is also true that dreams can sometimes be a repetition of previous thoughts you had throughout the day, God can still change that. I always have weird dreams (I've been married three times, been pregnant a whole bunch of times by different guys, etc), but last night I had a truly creepy dream.

Last night I was dreaming that I was at my house with my mom and my sister (not too unusual), and it was night time. Then I remember looking out the window, the sky was dark and whatnot, and this weird cluster of stars started to form into a line. The stars started to blink all of a sudden, and there were these strong flashes of white light in the sky.

Then we started to watch them closely, more carefully, to notice that this line of stars started to appear yellow, and then they gradually became red, and started to burst. I was scared for my life at this point, and as I bravely do when I'm scared of something, I closed my eyes. :|

We heard explosions, and if I remember correctly, the ground was shaking too. By the time it stopped and I finally looked up, we turned on the TV (sounds typical too). We watched the news to find out that a sort of meteor shower took place that left these giant craters in different parts of the world, like in South America and in Africa. I was like, "What?" It was totally scary guys!

And the thing is that in the Bible, in the book of Revelations it says that 1/3 of the stars will hit the earth when its time is near the end. Isn't that creepy?

My Dad and his proper English

I love my dad! :) He's the best father I could ever ask for, and I wouldn't change a thing about my dad! Especially his unique accent...his very Salvadoran accent.

My dad came to the U.S. during the civil war in El Salvador in the early 80s. He taught himself a lot of things while living on his own: driving, cooking, laundry, and English. He actually went to school to learn English, which explains his ability to speak properly. The only problem: his thick accent!

Some examples: this past weekend it was raining and stormy in my hometown. "Dih you hear the sunder?" It took me a while to realize that he was asking me if I heard the thunder. He has a tendency to say "sousan" for thousand, "neik" for naked, "punky" for pumpkin, and the classic "bey" for baby.

But despite his accent, his English is more proper than my mom's. And I like to rub that in her face. Hahah!

Day of the Dead

Ok so technically, my family does not celebrate Dia de los Muertos or "Day of the Dead". But what we do is respect those in our family who have passed away by placing fresh flowers on their grave. But since all of my deceased family is buried in El Salvador, we really don't do much today. But I wanted to do something special. Even though it took me several trips to different stores to find flowers and candles, I made a little memorial-thingy for the six family members that have passed away.

There are six flowers and candle for each of my family members. I chose yellow carnations with two red flowers because...that was all they had at WALGREENS! Well that and yellow is the color associated with death. I don't revere death as a holy thing or anything, but I do acknowledge that it is a natural process in life. I do re
spect death, as in I don't like to joke about it because you never know when God will call us to our end.

Here are the names of the family members from my dad's side of the family: my grandfather, my uncle and my aunt.
Here are the names of the family member's from my mom's side of the family: my grandfather, my great uncle and great aunt.

I loved each and everyone of my family members that passed away. Ironically enough, my maternal grandfather was dying on my thirteenth birthday. He live
d for about a month more after that. My aunt on my dad's side was supposed to die on my fifteenth birthday, but she held on for about a month in order for me to have a quinceañera. I am very thankful for the time that God allowed them to live on this earth. May they rest in peace.

Famous Cousins

This is another random fail blurb. And yes, I'm talking about you Karianne! LOL Karianne is one of my BFF's from high school. For the longest time, she had convinced me that within her mainly European background, she had some Mexican in the mix. I figured that sounded normal. But then a COUPLE YEARS LATER homegirl tells me that she made that up. Ooh she wouldn't let me get over that! So I decided to get my revenge!

One day in history in eleventh grade, I remember we were just talking when suddenly I was like: "Hey, so you know that one girl on Disney Channel? Selena Gomez or something like that?"
She was like "Yeah."
Me: "Well, I just found out that I'm related to her. We're like cousins or something."
Karianne: "Oh really?"
Me: "YEAH."
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Anywho, of course we're not actually related, but I like to tell people that to see if they believe me or not! LOL. I still call her "prima" when I refer to her though! :) Ooh and I've totally been feelin' her music lately. This is the latest of her songs that have been stuck in my head!

Fail, Catie, Fail!

So, I will now just add random blurbs to this lovely blog of mine. Lately, I have been keeping tallies of "fails" between myself and my awesome-possum roommate, Catie. Homegirl was getting ready to go out, was all dressed and had her little purse ready like a good kid. But WAIT!!!!! What happened? She steps out with these lovely shoes on:

Ay mija, did I not teach you how to dress yourself? LOL I love my Catie Lady! HAHAHAHA hope you don't do this again!
